How this audio converter works
The selected file is converted locally in your browser with FFmpeg WebAssembly. The first conversion downloads the converter engine, but your audio file is not sent to Clear Calculators. Large files can take longer on older devices, so check the downloaded result before removing the original.
Estimate only: browser support, source codecs and device memory can affect whether a file converts successfully. Listen to the downloaded file and keep the original until you have checked the result.
How to convert an audio file
Choose or drop one supported audio file, select the output format and, for MP3, choose a bitrate. Start the conversion and keep this tab open until the download button appears. The first conversion can take longer because the browser needs to load the conversion engine.
Use a short test file before converting something important. A higher MP3 bitrate can preserve more detail but normally creates a larger file. Converting an already compressed recording to another compressed format cannot restore quality that was removed from the original.
Formats, privacy and limitations
WAV and FLAC are useful when quality matters more than file size. MP3, AAC, M4A and OGG are commonly used when a smaller file is helpful. Compatibility still depends on the app, browser, player or service where you plan to use the result, so check its accepted formats before converting a large batch.
The selected file stays in this browser session and is not uploaded to Clear Calculators. Conversion can still use substantial device memory and processing power. Very large files, unusual codecs, damaged source files or limited-memory phones may fail. This tool does not edit metadata, remove noise, split tracks, normalise loudness or guarantee a particular playback result.
