How to compare postage options

Enter the parcel value, whether tracking is needed, and the maximum delivery aim you are comfortable with. Then add the price, compensation cover, tracking status and delivery aim for each postage option. The calculator marks options unsuitable if they do not meet your requirements.

It does not fetch live courier prices. That keeps the tool simple and avoids stale rates. Use current prices from the postage provider, marketplace label screen or courier comparison page.

What to check before buying a label

The cheapest suitable option is not always the right option. Check parcel size, weight, drop-off location, proof of delivery, compensation exclusions, prohibited items and whether the marketplace requires tracking for seller protection.

Estimate only. Courier prices, compensation, delivery aims and exclusions can change. Confirm the final label terms before posting.

Worked postage example

If a parcel is worth £35 and you require tracking, a £2.99 untracked option with only £20 cover may be cheaper but unsuitable. A £3.39 tracked option with £150 cover could be the better choice because it meets the cover and tracking requirements.

The calculator separates cheapest from suitable. That is important for marketplace sellers because the lowest label price can become expensive if the parcel is lost, the compensation cover is too low, or the marketplace asks for proof of delivery.

Why live rates are not built in

Postage prices change often and can depend on parcel size, weight, drop-off point, collection, marketplace discount, account type, insurance, destination and delivery speed. A hard-coded rate table would go stale quickly and could mislead users.

Instead, enter the current prices shown by your courier, marketplace label page or comparison service. This keeps the calculator useful for Royal Mail, Evri, Yodel, DPD, courier comparison sites and marketplace postage labels without pretending one price list fits every seller.
